raster data
3 poems in the sixth issue of Second Factory, a journal by Ugly Duckling Presse.
In 2023, I began working on Raster Data in Abu Dhabi, a collection of satellite images and poems on Mina Zayed, Abu Dhabi's now re-developing port. Rasters explores the role of cartography and GIS files in representing data that changes continuously across a landscape/surface. This ongoing project is preoccupied with creating a visual archive and bird eye view of how port cities are subject to change according to re-urbanization plans. These poems, like raster data files, provide an effective method of storing the continuity of Mina Zayed. These poems take the shape of abandoned cityscapes, empty warehouses, and roads with no return.
Three poems in this collection were published by Ugly Duckling Presse’s Second Factory Presse Issue #6 in New York.
